The film Tourist Trap is an example of a film of its time. Tobe Hooper pointed the way with his The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and other filmmakers followed. David Schmoeller didn’t make a downright great film, but I don't think it’s downright bad either. The human-sized puppets were able to inspire terror, which I think is the main thing you should expect from a horror film. ()
At times, it’s pretty scary B-movie horror that despite having several good scenes, feels twice as long as it should. Really, it felt as if from a certain point on the film only shuffles its feet on the same place and the plot doesn’t move forward much, making it very sluggish overall, though I can’t say it’s boring. Adding everything up, what I get is an easygoing slasher to watch once. ()
