Sinopsis(1)

The Imperial Council was founded in San Francisco by activist and drag queen José Sarria, the first openly gay man to run for political office in the United States, in 1961, is one of the oldest LGBTQ+ organizations in the world. 50 Years of Fabulous recounts the rich history of the Council’s immense history of galas, Emperors, and Empresses that work tirelessly to provide advocacy for the community. The legacy is vast and it stands on the shoulders of incredibly dedicated members of the council but times have changed and so have the needs of the LGBTQ+ community. To hold the title of Empress or Emperor is nothing to be taken lightly - not only is it a lifelong commitment but it is held in high regard. The Imperial Council continues to make efforts to stay relevant and explore the Imperial Council's traditions and looking to how to move those traditions into the future.
