Sinopsis(1)

The British documentary The Unspeakable Crime: Rape focuses on the topic of rape, myths about rape and victims of violent sexual offences. The audience has a face to face encounter with Julie, a middle-aged woman who was raped after she went out for a drink to her favourite bar. Julie reported the crime and is therefore part of a police investigation whose objective is to try to find the offender and bring him to justice. There is a need to not only provide evidence but also confront Julie with the crime itself. She, as well as many other women and men, cannot remember everything that happened at that moment. Part of the investigation and Julie's subsequent therapy is, therefore, a constant reminder of the situation, although she would prefer to completely forget it. The BBC documentary provides a look behind the scenes of a crime investigation. The greatest attention, however, is paid to the rape victims – small children, adolescents, women and men. Instead of receiving professional help, they often face contempt, mockery and downplaying of the situation. (Academia Film Olomouc)
