Sinopsis(1)

Surviving the Terror takes us right inside the treachery of terror, into the trauma of two Israeli bus drivers both victims of terrorist attacks. On March 11, 1978, eleven Al Fatah guerrillas hijacked two buses, one of them driven by the 31-year-old Avi Perez. The passengers, including many children, were on a day-trip to the North. On the way to Tel Aviv, 35 of these innocent people were killed and 100 injured in what is considered one of the deadliest attacks in Israel, known as the bloody "Sabbath Massacre". Avi survived but even after 25 years the terrible memories, the feelings of guilt for having survived as well as the ever-present fear of a new attack never leave him. Izhak Hayat had been working as a bus driver for 30 years in Jerusalemwhen on May 18, 2003, a terrorist dressed as an Orthodox Jew got on his bus at the busy French Hill Junction and detonated his explosive belt. Seven Israelis were killed and twenty were wounded. Whereas Avi has lived with the trauma of terror for 25 years, Izhak has just begun his painful journey of recovering from the emotional and bodily wounds he has suffered. The trauma will accompany him throughout his life. (Filmfest München)
