Kanami, an apprentice clown, falls in love with a haemodialysis patient Yosuke who is in despair and forget how to smile. Kanami decides to keep on smiling for him and tries to cheer him up no matter what happens. Yosuke gradually trusts her, and finally they promise to marry each other. However, Yosuke collapsed from his illness on the day before the wedding, and it turns out that his days are numbered.
