Sao Paulo, años 90: Laertes, un violinista de gran talento, da clases de música a adolescentes de una escuela pública en Heliópolis, un barrio de una zona deprimida de São Paulo, tras ser rechazado en la prestigiosa Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado. A pesar de las dificultades, el poder transformador de la música y la amistad que surge entre el profesor y sus alumnos les abre las puertas a un nuevo mundo. (Caramel Films Esp.)

The film won’t rock your world but on the other hand it is good to watch something we can guess ahead once in a while. Even in a Brazilian slum, you can find few normal, nice people who want to change the world of a few youngsters. In this case it is by music. However, the life conditions there are hard and some people are not able to deal with that. The Violin Teacher is a perfect example of that but despite the not entirely pleasant characters, I was still able to enjoy the movie, especially because of the beautiful music.
