Sinopsis(1)

The world renowned, innovative, and highly conceptual artist Marcel Duchamp has made a lasting mark on the art world. His enigmatic persona unites mystery with notoriety, banality with provocation. Commencing with Cezanne imitations and post-impressionist-like paintings, followed by his explosive Nu Descendant l'Escalier (Nude Descending the Staircase) bringing him fame in America as early as 1912, Marcel Duchamp quickly relinquished turpentine fumes for the development of new, more conceptual works, such as the "Readymades", manufactured objects elevated to the status of "dignified" works of art simply by being selected by the artist. By drawing on La Vie Illustrée de Marcel Duchamp (The Illustrated Life of Marchel Duchamp) written by Jacques Caumont and Jennifer Gough-Cooper and published in 1977, the film retraces Marcel Duchamp's artistic route, namely by focusing on the places he lived in: the setting of his youth at Blainville-Crevon in Normandy, his "home" in the United States.
