In October 2013 Paris was taken over by street art. Neither a museum nor a gallery, it's an apartment building bound for destruction that became home to the biggest collective exhibition of over a hundred artists. The artists came to take over every centimetre of the building's 4,500 square metres. The façade, painted from huge extension arms, attracts the eyes from a long way off. More than 400 original works were created on nine storeys. No one has ever gathered so much street art under one roof before. Over the course of a month, the street artists' efforts were seen live by 30,000 people, and another 570,000 followed them online. For the artists, it was a manifesto of street art as an activity that by definition might not survive a single day. Especially since the building they were working on was slated for demolition...
