Cowork City

Coworking has become a major trend in today's worklife, and the number of coworking spaces is increasingly rapidly around the globe. Why do people cowork? This film traces back some of the origins of the phenomenon by interviewing founders of the coworking movement. It also introduces four coworkers that tell about their work and reasons to join a coworking community. Coworking blurs three types of places: it is not a home, not an office and not a café, but a combination of these. What people search for is a more humanized work situation for creating connections and encounters. Communicating and meeting others displays the production force behind coworking: economy of encounters, where value is created by serendipitous, accidental emergence of ideas.
