Sinopsis(1)

In the early 90s, Janyl fled with her seven-year-old son to Western Europe. She was driven from her region, the Central Asian Pamir Mountains, by the dramatic events associated with the collapse of the Soviet Union. Now years later, the Kyrgyzstani director returns to her native village in Tajikistan, and through her own memories and the memories of local people she paints a picture of the culture of the ethnic Kyrgyz. The original nomadic herdsmen now live in villages scattered across several states. In this intimate documentary, the film maker contemplates the outlying regions, the trauma of war and ethnic frictions. (One World)
