The Good Doctor

When I started watching the series, I was secretly hoping that this medical show would come up with something original, but it didn't. The character of Shaun Murphy was interesting and the flashbacks into his childhood were initially quite entertaining. It's just that the creators used these flashbacks so often that I got tired of them by the third episode. I wasn't too happy with the rest of the cast, either. There were way too many beautiful soap opera faces for me to take. I think what hurt the series the most was the wasted potential of the main character and the melodrama. At the end of the day, it was just another easy watch for a weekday afternoon. Dr. House has a Vicodin addiction, Dr. Murphy is autistic, otherwise, the two shows are pretty much the same. The first episode brought a classic series formula, as I expected: an introduction to the most important characters and the basic plot, clearly, otherwise it wouldn't be possible.:-) I know that not all autists are the same, but I was still surprised that Shaun doesn't have more problems with physical contact. The flashbacks provide interesting information from the doctor's childhood, so I welcome them, and the situation in the hospital clearly showed the direction the further plot will take. So far, 3*+. The second episode developed the story that was outlined in the first part: a power struggle is taking place in the hospital and a brilliant recruit is sidelined. I had the feeling that a certain stereotype, which I know from similarly focused series, is being expressed here, but hopefully the situation will improve. (29.04.2018)

This time, I experienced disappointment. In the first episode, I praised the flashbacks to Shaun's childhood, but after watching the third episode, I have to admit that they started to annoy me quite a bit. It is probably also because the creators use them so often. After "enjoying" Chuck's story, I'm starting to get the impression that the series will be completely different than I initially thought, there is a bit too much playing with emotions in it. This time I didn't have as strong a feeling as in the previous episode that the creators were attacking my emotions, maybe only future parents were making some effort, but it was futile because I finally discovered what actually amuses me the most about Shaun. I gave the fifth episode four stars because I was dreading the usual clichés and emotional manipulation, but instead I had a good laugh and was entertained by different understandings of truth and lies and their practical utilization. However, I still insist that there are too many trips to Shaun's past. (29.04.2018)

Right from the beginning, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised that the creators finally gave up on constant retrospective scenes, which made the plot flow more naturally. I really enjoyed the whole episode this time, could it be that I have a hidden fan for wedding massacres in me? (30.04.2018)

The seventh episode was significantly worse compared to the previous one, the script once again attempted to attack my emotions, but my cynical shell easily resisted such a feeble attempt. Glen's storyline was just endless emotional manipulation, but I find it funny that a surgical resident can afford to spend a working day in the basement or on the roof. Directors of Czech hospitals can only envy Americans such a surplus of staff. (30.04.2018)

I would happily give them one more star, but then that idiot would have to have a massive heart attack the moment he found out that he is being taken care of by an Asian and a Black woman. It's a shame that Americans can't handle darker humor. Anyway, I appreciate how the creators succeeded in promoting apples. I like them too. (30.04.2018)

This really won't work, I simply don't empathize with those unfortunate African children, it's beyond me, I don't even send 300 crowns a month for Jeremiah Johnson to catch his breath while our problems persist without interest. The plotline with the dysfunctional heart didn't interest me, so both stars go searching for the lost sample. (30.04.2018)

The tenth episode was indeed better than the previous one, but I am annoyed by scenes that are completely detached from reality. Exactly like the conversation with the janitor in the broom closet, I suspect that in reality, Shaun would have received a well-aimed punch in response to his questions, not a life confession. On the other hand, the V.I.P. patient amused me a lot, but even so, the series still lacks that "something" extra that would significantly differentiate it from other medical-themed matters. The plot of the eleventh episode entertained me this time. Both storylines had their charm and I am willing to acknowledge that the creators could have included more touching scenes about the Siamese twins, so I am very grateful that they did not. The road trip was funny from beginning to end, so I rate it with four stars. (01.05.2018)

The creators seamlessly continued the story from the previous installment, I have to praise them again for not turning the twelfth episode into a complete tearjerker, and even though the humor noticeably decreased, I had a good time and had no reason to rate it lower than four stars. (01.05.2018)

After two promising episodes, the series returned to its standard, when the plot didn't offend me in any way, but also didn't in any way fill me with enthusiasm. The story once again focused more on the relationships between the doctors, and I had the opportunity to realize again how some characters have a telenovela-like effect on me. (01.05.2018)

In this case, what I wrote in the comment for the previous episode applies. I saw another standard without any added value that would make the ordinary series something more. I was not pleased with the introduction of a new character, Dr. Morgan Reznick represents exactly the cliché that was missing here - an arrogant, calculating bitch. Is this really going to become a typical soap opera? (01.05.2018)

The fifteenth episode was quite disappointing to me, I added the third star for the excellent Dr. Park, who managed to quickly fill the fridge practically for all the departments performing transplants. And now honestly, who and why told that boy that he would get the liver of a sevenfold murderer? A child psychologist? The charitable aspect didn't turn out well either, so I see it as a maximum of 3*-. (01.05.2018)

The sixteenth episode had a rather weak storyline, the plotline with the wheelchair user could have been good if after a while it didn't start revolving solely around his relationship with his wife, the storyline with the implants didn't interest me at all because I don't like people who repeatedly let themselves be cut to then complain that they have the same amazing expression as Mickey Rourke. There has been a significant improvement from the previous installment. The girl without a smile was perfect ("Believe me, I'm laughing inside."). Obviously, the creators once again remembered Shaun, who was previously pushed to the background, and I also enjoyed the friendly connection to the sixth episode. (02.05.2018)

These are things, I originally suspected it was a stroke. This time, it was successfully fully utilized the character of Shaun Murphy, I really enjoyed his obsession with the tumor and searching for the scalpel got me weak in the knees. It's a shame that they didn't manage to skip the scenes that were supposedly supposed to move me, but unnecessarily spoiled the overall impression. (02.05.2018)
