Sinopsis(1)

Miles Daly (Chris O'Dowd) is a hitman from Nevada who tries to become a movie producer in Hollywood as a means to leave his criminal past behind and win back his recently-estranged family. There, he meets Rick Moreweather (Ray Romano), a washed up producer of low quality films who is desperately hanging on to the rungs of Hollywood relevancy and begrudgingly becomes Miles' partner and guide through the maze of show business. Get Shorty (2017)

inglés What a surprise. This is not what I expected from an American show starring Chris O'Dowd and Ray Romano. They both jumped out of their typecast roles like a stripper jumps out of a birthday cake. The show is an excellent mixture of humor, drama, violence, and the inevitable consequences of certain actions. I've had a great time with all three seasons. I was originally expecting some mindless fun to be watched while doing household chores, but I ended up pleasantly surprised. 4*+ ()

Season 1 (2017) (S01)

inglés I didn’t have high hopes for this show, expecting an easy watch for a boring afternoon (best-case scenario). Surprisingly enough, the story gradually drew me in, and I suddenly found myself having a good time. My good mood lasted until the final two episodes, which brought some disillusionment, but I’m still planning on watching the next season. ()

The Pitch (2017) (S01E01)

inglés When I found out in the pilot episode that it was a story about a hit man trying to break into the film industry, it immediately brought to mind Barry. I was worried it would be a similar premise with a different cast, but thankfully, those fears were unfounded. After the first encounter with Miles and the gang, it's clear to me that this won't be a masterpiece, but I found myself enjoying it quite a bit. ()

Sins of a Chambermaid (2017) (S01E02)

inglés I'm starting to really enjoy the back-and-forth between the world of organized crime and the filmmaking environment. The series seems to be fulfilling its main purpose - to entertain the viewer without pretending to be something it's not. So far, it's working for me - it's not mind-blowing, but it's making my lazy afternoons more enjoyable. 4*- ()

The Yips (2017) (S01E03)

inglés So there's been another shift; while I liked the back-and-forth between the criminal and filmmaker worlds in the last episode, in this episode, the creators did an excellent job of gradually blending them together. ()

From Stamos With Love (2017) (S01E04)

inglés The first three episodes had their share of humor, but in the fourth, the creators cranked up the violence, which, when mixed with the humor, felt like an odd combination. Odd, but not bad. Surprisingly, I'm still enjoying it, and as a bonus, we got Peter Stormare in one of his typical eccentric roles. ()

A Man of Letters (2017) (S01E05)

inglés The storyline feels like it's getting better with each new episode. Miles is like a juggler, trying to keep too many balls in the air until they inevitably drop. Yet, I'm thoroughly enjoying the ride and finding myself readjusting my initial opinion of the first season; it's more than just easy entertainment for a lazy afternoon. 4*+ ()

Epinephrine (2017) (S01E06)

inglés The creators are skillfully weaving together humorous scenes with moments of unsettling atmosphere, and the overall effect is working brilliantly. They've also hit the mark with Louis's character - mostly entertaining, but with occasional reminders of his true nature. I'm thoroughly satisfied. ()

Grace Under Pressure (2017) (S01E07)

inglés The seventh episode delved into Miles' most significant traumatic experience, and I must say, it kept the entertainment factor high throughout. Once again, we witnessed the preparations for the film, occasional organized crime, and a fresh approach to hiring a screenwriter. This episode didn't disappoint. ()

Shot on Location (2017) (S01E08)

inglés The film shoot in the Nevada desert is exactly my kind of thing. What I consider the highlights of this episode were the neurotic Rick, along with the prima donna actress playing the main female role, and Louis. In other words, this episode turned out really well. Now, I'm just hoping that nothing goes terribly wrong in the end; that would be a shame. 5*- ()

Turnaround (2017) (S01E09)

inglés The ninth episode took a stronger focus on organized crime compared to the previous ones, bringing more action. Paradoxically, I didn't find myself enjoying it as much. I suppose I missed the frequent alternation between settings and situations that I've grown accustomed to. It's not that the episode was terrible but it was evident that something was lacking. 3*+ ()

Blue Pages (2017) (S01E10)

inglés The creators seemed to have hit their lowest point in the last two episodes. It's not to say that both of them were outright bad, but they left me feeling disappointed. It felt like all the effort was more focused on setting up a bridge for the next season rather than giving a satisfying conclusion to the first season. ()

Season 2 (2018) (S02)

inglés The second season seemed to be handled better than the first one. It had a very decent pace throughout, a richer storyline, and the characters felt more fleshed-out. The criminals were often shown in a much more favorable light than they deserved, but that's not a concern for the experienced viewers who have watched their fair share of crime shows. Anyone (regardless of position and rank) can be presented in a better light, but you shouldn’t let that fool you. I digress; All I wanted to say is that I had a better time than I expected, which is a good thing. 4*+ ()

And What Have We Learned? (2018) (S02E01)

inglés The creators haven't lost their touch; they seamlessly picked up where they had left off. Nevada's expansion into California and the intertwining of the world of organized crime with the film industry make for an intriguing backdrop. As for my part, I had a good time. While the episode wasn't flawless, I'd easily rate it four out of five stars. ()

Pest Control (2018) (S02E02)

inglés The creators have held onto their winning formula from the previous season. This series remains undemanding yet not dumb. The drama is skillfully blended with humor, creating an overall enjoyable experience. Here's hoping Miles doesn't end up bursting a blood vessel from stress and a surplus of pharmaceuticals; we need his positive influence on those hesitating agents... ()

Selenite (2018) (S02E03)

inglés This season is steering in the right direction. While I'm not typically a fan of hallucinatory states in films or series, I surprisingly found myself enjoying Miles's visions and dreams. The episode delved both into the world of filmmaking and organized crime, yet also gave room for Miles's inner resurrection. I had a great time with this episode, which is becoming quite the standard. ()

We'll Let You Know (2018) (S02E04)

inglés Watching a series set in sunny Los Angeles while lying in bed on a gloomy autumn day is what I call pure bliss. Once again, crime and movies were cleverly intertwined, but the characters who really amused me this time around were Louis and Gladys. Their post-coital banter was particularly hilarious. 4*+ ()

Fifteen to Thirty Minutes (Depending on Weight) (2018) (S02E05)

inglés This episode took a much more intimate turn, being confined in a storeroom/boiler room. It was mostly a conversation-driven affair, yet I found myself thoroughly entertained throughout. The hired killer's reflections on moral dilemmas (and more) were presented in a way that kept me engaged. I hope the creators continue on this path in the second half of the season. ()

Unlimited (Limited) (2018) (S02E06)

inglés The episode delivered just as I anticipated. We saw some major developments in both the filmmaking and organized crime spheres. The creators also made sure to develop the relationships between the characters, whether for better or worse. I had an absolute blast watching it all unfold. ()

Banana Split (2018) (S02E07)

inglés The tension is ramping up on all fronts, and it's a thrill to watch. The "bad guys" are at each other's throats, and as for the "good guys"... well, they never really existed in this world. I'm torn between enjoying the tense dynamics between the "business partners" and the unfolding drama around the new movie. Miles's relationship problems were also quite intriguing. All in all, I had a blast. ()
