The manufacturer Szitár Kálmán learns from his doctor that he is seriously ill. His son, Péter arrives from his studies abroad to take over the factory. He is asked by the workers to fire a rude works manager, with whom the doorman's daughter, Vera had a fight. Instead, Péter fires the doorman. When the old Szitár takes over again, Péter becomes interested in what happened to the doorman. He rents a room in his apartment and finds employment as a simple worker in his father's factory.
