Paangshu

In Sri Lanka, a low-caste washerwoman, Babanona, is summoned to court to identify one of the paramilitary men who abducted her son during the 1988-89 insurgency. Although the young public prosecutor of the case shows no interest in helping Babanona find her son, the pregnant wife of the accused begs her forgiveness. During the prolonged hearings, shameful secrets are brought to light. (Montreal World Film Festival)
