The Lil Voice

Malik returns home from a five-year sentence in the state penitentiary and is immediately faced with opposition when he has a physical confrontation with his mother’s live-in boyfriend. Living at home is no longer an option if Malik is going to stay out of trouble, so he turns to his ex-girlfriend, Tasha, for temporary shelter. Malik appears to be headed in the right direction, until Tasha discovers drugs in her house. Now with his only ally ready to call it quits, Malik has an encounter with a little boy, Jonah, who is wise beyond his years. Jonah is only nine years old, but is the perfect example of the scripture that says “Yea, have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings Thou hast perfected praise?” (Pan African Film Festival)
