What's good about the story is that it's based on real personalities, because in this case, it helps. Its strength lies mainly in how the individual characters are portrayed, with Anne Bancroft especially being absolutely captivating, and she and Patty Duke fit so well together that the film would work even without the other actors. Very powerful, but not extortionate. ()
