Brief an mein Leben

Toni calls herself a global citizen, and proudly so. When she's not jetting around the world attending international conferences, the young and successful academic splits her time between her university, where she's a professor of oceanography, her partner Maria's home, and her own hometown, where her completely overwhelmed father is taking care of her dying mother. Toni's fast-paced life catches up with her, eventually landing her in a psychiatric ward where she demands that her doctor come up with a quick cure. But her obsession with efficiency isn't getting her anywhere... Like all new patients she's assigned a 'buddy patient', a woman named Steffi. Toni, of course, can't stand Steffi, and the doctors – especially the head physician whose cheerful demeanor she abhors – are also rubbing her the wrong way. In other words Toni blames everyone else instead of dealing with her own issues. Tough as it may be, Toni has to find a way to put the pieces of her life back together... (Filmfest München)
