Sinopsis(1)

Director Jeanne Hallacy went searching for the reality behind the smile of Buddha, but discovered instead the tragedy which engulfs the Burmese people. She met Tin Aung, a student leader in his village who fled to the border area near Thailand after the student uprising of 1998, and for the next four years followed him and his fellow students in their struggle for democracy. Hallacy dramatically captures the human rights violations that led to Tin Aung´s exodus to the border area, and experiences his marriage and birth of his twin daughters. When the twins get seriously ill in the jungle, Tin Aung and his wife are forced to choose between continuing their struggle for democracy in Burma and the well-being of their family. (One World)
