This documentary follows the destiny of the "poorest among the poor and slaves of the slaves", women from the lowest group in the Indian caste system: Bhangi. Their job is to clean the public and private latrines, or to dispose of dead animals on the street. The monthly salary of some women is only 50 rupees (about three DM). A Bhangi is kept away from the community out of fear for pollution. They are considered as "untouchables". This film is an powerful document about the degradation of human beings, suggested by religion and maintained in society, as part of a non-written agreement. (One World)
