The psychological novel published in 1938 is set in Silesia during World War I. However, in Weiss's 1950s optics, these facts are suppressed to the benefit of Jiřina Šejbalová's solo performance, which is nothing compared to Rozina in Vlček's previous film based on Glazarová's book "Advent." Of course, if "Advent" is a celebration of Wallachian folklore, The Wolf Trap is a celebration of petty bourgeois morality, entirely in the progressive spirit of the breakthrough era of Czechoslovakia of Zápotocký and Novotný.
