Alien, el octavo pasajero (1979)

inglés Ridley Scott's first major "notch" in world cinema. A film shot in an utterly timeless way with lots of creepy sounds and visual "experiences". Sometimes I wonder how much better the final impression could have been if I could have sat in the cinema (preferably alone) in that year 1979 or 1980 and enjoyed the horror in its full glory on the screen. But back then I was just a twinkle in my mother’s eye...))) One of Mr. Scott's best pieces. 100%

El ultimátum de Bourne (2007)

inglés An ending like this (for now :)) is, I think, the dream of every fan of any series. If the first one was a very solid spy action thriller, the second brought a lot of new invention (and "heaps" of action :) and went a bit more in depth into the psychology of the characters, the third is perfect in almost every aspect. The almost continuous action that Greengrass bombards the viewer carries Bourne to a finale that is truly one of the best climaxes of a film series ever.

Eclipse total (1995)

inglés Another adaptation of Stephen King's "non-horror" novel, this turned out to be an excellent film, perhaps benefiting most from Gilroy's fine script, Elfman's music, Hackford's above-average directing, and also from the great Kathy Bates. An excellent, almost chilling study of the strained relationship between a mother and a daughter. 4 stars

Iron Man (2008)

inglés A very enjoyable cast and Downey's performance in particular make Iron Man a great entertainment that doesn't really surprise you with anything, but ranks worthily alongside its peers like Spider-Man and the X-Men. A completely unpretentious diversion.

Un plan sencillo (1998)

inglés As a kid from the younger generation, I had associated Raimi mainly with Spider-Man (I knew that there was some kind of The Evil Dead, of course, but I had no idea that it was one of Raimi's first pieces :)). And A Simple Plan is great in every way – the perfect atmosphere enhanced by Elfman's wonderful music, an elaborate script, and Billy Bob Thornton as the slightly slow Jacob was excellent, as were the rest of the cast. Raimi's amazing concept, a few chilling moments, and a truly "badass" (I had to use that word:)) ending ensure a truly extraordinary experience.

Cometas en el Cielo (2007)

inglés Marc Forster tells a story about friendship, guilt, and a religion that has its own laws and rules – and he again tells it impressively and excellently. Following the excellent debut Monster's Ball, the equally excellent Finding Neverland, and the magnificent As Good As It Gets (I haven't seen Stay yet, but I'm going to), The Kite Runner is once again a near-perfect achievement, and one that shows particularly great directorial flair. I think we can still expect great things from Forster in the future and I hope my prediction comes true with a Best Picture Oscar-winning film :)

Encuentros en la tercera fase (1977)

inglés After Jaws, Spielberg's next indelible entry in the history of vintage cinema. Breathtakingly, brilliantly shot as only a master of entertainment can.

El protegido (2000)

inglés I just found the denouement a little rushed. Since the whole film slowly flows and very little really happens, I found the ending unnecessarily too violent. Considering how Unbreakable is shot and the high quality of its craftsmanship, the ending definitely deserved more space; here I think Shyamalan didn't quite pull it off in terms of the script. Otherwise, I have no complaints – the atmosphere, the music, the cinematography, the directing, the great Bruce Willis and Samuel L. Jackson, and Shyamalan's traditionally great cameo – there's nothing to fault. 85%

Hijos de los hombres (2006)

inglés I'm not saying Cuarón's concept was bad, but somehow the whole thing just didn't sit right with me... It's like I'm fighting off hunger with too large a helping of something very rich and tasty, but despite all the "quality" I was still hungry at the end (maybe even more than I was to start with)... I was disappointed; I expected much, much more.

La vida de David Gale (2003)

inglés A very solid crime film with an excellent cast. The unnecessary and excessive complexity of the plot stood in the way of a full rating; if the whole film had been along the lines of the first 30 minutes, it would have pulled it off at 5 stars. As it is, it's a decent 4 stars.
