How to Hook Up Your Home Theater (2007)

inglés I know from my own experience that manufacturers should put their own map to the manuals. Even so, this animated short failed to properly entertain and make me laugh, which is a shame given the premise.

El camino de los ingleses (2006)

inglés I was quite curious about Antonio Banderas as a director, but after watching his film I have to say I was very disappointed. I found it outrageously long-winded and full of unfulfilled attempts at poeticization and intense expression of feelings. None of the characters appealed to me in any significant way, nor was I able to empathise with any of them. A film that pretends to be something it is not - it is too shallow and does not go into depth at all, which is what I would expect from a film like this.

Ladrones (2007)

inglés Thieves is an average film with a bland cast and a simple (if somewhat original) story. I'm not saying that I was bored, but this film is a quickly forgettable affair that unfortunately only builds up at the very end. In short, a film from which much more could have been squeezed out, but it still doesn't offend - a light dramatic recreation for leisure.

Curfew (2012)

inglés Sophia and Richie is a short that stands out especially for its sincerity and likeable cast. It doesn't matter that it's a simple story, because everyone knows that there is beauty in simplicity. The best part, of course, was the bowling scene

Manhattan (1979)

inglés Manhattan didn't awaken bursts of laughter in me, rather it impressed me with its highly intellectual and sophisticated script, in which, paradoxically, I didn't understand much of the dialogue at all. The plot is neither complicated nor unorthodox, it is simply a story from life. The cast was really perfect, especially Diane Keaton and Mariel Hemingway. I liked the music, which reminded me terribly of the atmosphere of the music clubs and entertainment venues of the first half of the 20th century. A typically conversational Woody Allen, who, although he doesn't wow or burst your diaphragm with laughter, nevertheless captivates and puts a smile on your face.

Guard Dog (2004)

inglés A dog that looks after his owner and wants to protect him from many dangers is priceless, but this dog is too paranoid and fearful, which can turn against him in the end. All in all, a short film that doesn't boast any striking animation, but it doesn't lack for ideas and a surprising ending.

Save Miranda! (2011)

inglés Save Miranda! may not be as funny and effective as Thanks, Smokey!, but this short still has an imaginative point, which is to find a little girl (Miranda?!).

Pacific Rim (2013)

inglés No matter what anyone says, Pacific Rim is just a decent and action-packed blockbuster with breathtaking audiovisual effects and a great and badass soundtrack. So what if many of the scenes are formulaic and riddled with all sorts of clichés. I went to the cinema expecting to see what it looks like when a bunch of 80 metre robots and a bunch of gigantic "Godzillas" fight each other. Well, in the end, it's a really good watch, the action is bountiful, the fights are well thought out and epic, and there's also some jokes and a hint of a stronger emotional scene. Ron Perlman's cameo was a delight and entertained me. Also the appearance of the monsters reminded me strongly of the monsters from Hellboy and Pan’s Labyrinth. Story-wise it is not as strong and deep as Labyrinth, but I didn't expect anything like that either. In short, for me, this film is a total guilty pleasure, with all the trimmings - I was entertained, scared, and "blushing" with bliss at the visuals while watching it.

Louis C.K. learns about the Catholic Church (2007)

inglés A very controversial short confession about what the main goal (mission) of the Catholic Church is. This film is definitely not for die-hard practicing Catholics who believe in God. Yet, despite its content and intent, this short did not impress me any more.

The Horribly Slow Murderer with the Extremely Inefficient Weapon (2008)

inglés This short film was an incredible piece of bullshit, but also very imaginative, I must admit. Of course, the thing that impressed me the most was the absolutely spot-on parody (or copy) of probably the most famous shower scene - I don't need to elaborate. In short, it was a stupid thing that was so embarrassing it was funny.
