Crudo (2016)

inglés The French have always been fond of these strangely slightly perverted, even perverse, themes and I always love them. The protagonist is a vegetarian who goes to vet school where she is forced to eat a rabbit kidney and from that point on she begins to develop a craving for meat that leads to cannibalism. An original premise that deals with quite serious themes (homosexuality, anorexia, cannibalism). It's more psychologically oriented, but there are a few gross things. It's convincingly acted, skillfully shot and considering the film is set in a school, which is usually close to my heart, I was supremely entertained throughout the entire runtime. The unexpected final denouement is also a plus. For me, France scores again. 75%

La bella y la Bestia (2017)

inglés Nice production design, solid visual effects and the adorable Emma Watson are the end of the pros for me. There are too many songs for my taste and I liked more or less only Ema's, the rest didn't really impress me. It's watchable, but the material is so stale that it has nothing to surprise. 60%

Dræberne fra Nibe (2017)

inglés My favourite Ole Bornedal is back and he is excellent again. This time instead of a horror film, he delivers a very bitter and black-humored thriller-driven comedy and both sides work perfectly. The acting is spot on, the jokes are polished, the assassins are amazing (I won't forget the drunken Russian assassin Igor). I had a great time. 80%.

Death Note: El nuevo mundo (2016)

inglés Japan did not suit me again and I was quite looking forward to this film. I'm not familiar with the source material, but I liked the trailer and I'm not happy at all. Visually the film is okay, but the pacing didn't suit me, the action is lacking and I'm sorry that the potential of the notebook was left very untapped. I was bored. 35%.

Pelea de maestros (2017)

inglés An enjoyable comedy from a school setting, with a great Ice Cube. They don't make many school comedies anymore, so I'm always happy for something like this where I'm reminded of the years of my life five years ago. It's funny, the pacing is brisk, and even though it doesn't offer anything innovative I didn't mind. 70%

Que Dios nos perdone (2016)

inglés The Spaniards are here again. This time I am not too impressed with their new film, but it is a solidly directed film that deserves attention. There is a serial killer on the loose in the city who only targets older women and two detectives are tasked with tracking him down. It’s more of a crime drama that only shifts into thriller mode in the final half hour, but there's certainly no shortage of suspense. I was expecting more brutality, maybe even a twist, but those who like similar films should give it a go. 65%

Hounds of Love (2016)

inglés A fairly likable little kidnap thriller that entertains and manages to thrill at times, but disappoints all the more because there is no explicit violence or rape and it lacked an interesting twist. As it is, it doesn't have much to stand out from the competition. Mom and Dad is both similar and significantly better. 60%

Alien: Covenant (2017)

inglés Enjoyable shit!! Covenant has a slightly longer run-up than I would have liked and the opening isn't very engaging, but anyway, the 15-strong crew makes it clear from the start that the horror viewer is not going to be short of a high body-count, and it isn't. As soon as the crew sets off to visit a new planet, a densely atmospheric, juicily brutal (finally a decent use of the R-rating), visually arresting and at times goosebump-inducing inferno begins, and it doesn't let up until the climactic finale, which lasts around half an hour and meets the strictest criteria of a true horror fan. Michael Fassbender and Katherine Waterston are absolutely amazing, the white xenomorph is one of the most attractive creatures I've ever had the opportunity to see on screen, Baby Alien and the unexpected final denouement are also satisfying. Overall, it's got decent balls especially when the Alien is rampaging on screen. If it wasn't for the slower opening, I'd go for the full score. Nerds and nitpickers will probably grumble, others might be satisfied. Interesting fact: one old man was so turned on to the alien that he had to see it even at the cost of not being able to walk. Apparently, he wanted a repeat of the theatrical opening like 38 years ago. Story 8/10, Atmosphere 9/10, Gore 8/10, Visuals 10/10, Action 8/10, Suspense 8/10,Humor 2/10. Entertainment 8/10, Scares 3/10. 85%.

Trash Fire (2016)

inglés I avoided the film for a long time, which makes it all the more worthwhile at the end. I laughed a lot for the first half hour. The ego of the arrogant main character was over the line, but that's what made it interesting. Once the action shifts to grandma's house the blackly humorous comedy becomes a disturbing, slightly twisted and gripping thriller that sticks out in its originality. Very good, even surprising entertainment. 75%

Le llamaban Jeeg Robot (2015)

inglés The Italian version of Deadpool is a refreshing genre film that is very pleasant to watch. It's got pace, decent action, cool visuals and there's some violence, but I certainly wouldn't go overboard with the words (too much blood for Europe) Italy is far from the French. Interesting piece.75%
