Seis nueve: La serie - Episode 5 (2023) (episodio)

inglés The previous episode left me pleasantly surprised, so I had hoped to ride that same wave until the end. However, this time, the plot seemed to doze off again, and I found myself getting bored at times. To be fair, I enjoyed some moments (like the scene with the moving), but in the grand scheme, it wasn't enough to earn this episode a better rating. / Lesson learned: Don't try to mock a policeman by not lying.

Seis nueve: La serie - Episode 4 (2023) (episodio)

inglés Finally got my bearings: the Thai creators clearly don't take themselves too seriously, so why should I? Well, if I'm not taking what I just watched seriously, then there's no reason not to give it a four out of five. The episode delivered pure bizarre (in a good sense), the kind you can really only expect from Asia, and surprisingly, I enjoyed every moment of it. / Lesson learned: Women may claim to be less violent than men, and I believe them, but in this episode, there were just too many girlfriends (read: crazy psychopaths) with "creative" ideas for those forty minutes.

Seis nueve: La serie - Episode 3 (2023) (episodio)

inglés What can I say? Things are getting intense, and the sales of a particular type of rattan goods must be skyrocketing. This time around, the Thai creators entertained me so much that it almost deserved a solid four out of five. Who would've thought after the pilot episode? Certainly not me. I couldn't help but occasionally think of my favorite losers, Tucker and Dale, because the plot kept nudging me in that direction. Even the slowed-down Toom fit perfectly into the story. If it keeps up like this, I might just give the sixth episode five stars. / Lesson learned: If you put coffee in your sugar, you're heading for trouble. 3*+

Seis nueve: La serie - Episode 2 (2023) (episodio)

inglés The second episode felt a bit more enjoyable and, above all, clearer. Sure, the story isn't a masterpiece, but the creators managed to partially compensate for its many shortcomings with occasional bizarre moments. The elusive spirit of Toom made only sporadic appearances here, and the pacing didn't bother me as much. / Lesson learned: In regions with high humidity and temperatures, it's best not to leave bodies lying around outside the freezer. 3*-

Besa - Episode 8 (2021) (episodio)

inglés The pisode proved to be another instance where the addition of action scenes wasn't really necessary (though they were there). It was all about the atmosphere, deep contemplations, and decisions. The creators have yet again underscored the idea that in a world of deception, the morally upright are a rare breed. With crooked cops and shady prosecutors, you can only trust the villain, because you can expect them to stab you in the back. / Lesson learned: Don't be a fool, remember Todor.

Seis nueve: La serie - Episode 1 (2023) (episodio)

inglés At first, navigating through the Thai chaos of the first episode was a bit of a challenge, leaving me uncertain about my initial impressions. The slow pace, lackluster plot, and a somewhat bland main heroine didn't quite hit the mark. Here's hoping for improvements in upcoming episodes. / Lesson learned: A lie can have dire consequences for one's health.

Besa - Episode 7 (2021) (episodio)

inglés Another great episode. I didn't expect anything less as this creative team consistently delivers top-notch performances. Originally, I was ready to give it full marks, but I had to deduct one star because the internal investigation at Interpol was a let-down. It felt so sloppy that I could hardly believe it passed muster. It was a noticeable, albeit the only flaw in an otherwise satisfying episode. / Lesson learned: Even good decisions can take you from the frying pan straight into the fire.

Papás a la antigua (2023)

inglés I was partly entertained and partly suffering through the crap that's so popular these days, the kind of stuff Bill Burr obviously hates as much as I do. I couldn't give it more than three stars though, because Bill Burr wasn't really acting, he was just being himself the whole time. I'm not sure why some viewers are surprised about him being a family man since he's never made a secret of it. When you boil it down, the whole thing is basically an extract from his life with most of the plot pieces stitched together from his stand-up routines. I had a decent time but I can't rate it higher for the reasons mentioned above. / Lesson learned: Yes, I'm officially a dinosaur.

Monstruos de Cracovia - Episode 8 (2022) (episodio)

inglés I suffered through seven episodes (well, five actually, two were quite bearable) only for the Poles to screw me over in the end... This wasn't the grand finale I was hoping for; it was frustrating. I mean, seriously, when a bunch of modern songs and dances gets into a battle against evil, it's sure to kill the vibe. And now there's probably going to be a second season, isn't there?! If so, I suggest the creators go all out and turn it into a full-blown musical. / Lesson learned: Sometimes the relief that it's finally over can outweigh the disappointment of what you've just seen.

Monstruos de Cracovia - Episode 7 (2022) (episodio)

inglés The episode was brimming with events, phenomena, and revelations; the story surged powerfully forward. The creators even occasionally unveiled answers to some burning questions, only to swiftly introduce another mysteriously cryptic allegory. Under these circumstances, it's truly a mystery to me why I found it a bit dull at times. Perhaps it was the constant running around Cracow and its surroundings that got to me. / Lesson learned: Store goddesses who have suddenly turned into mortals in dry and warm places.
