Invencible (2006)

inglés Next to the sports films that have recently started to appear everywhere, Invincible falls into the sub-average. Peter Berg’s Friday Night Lights is visually somewhere else, Coach Carter on the other hand managed to deliver the moral in a much more entertaining way, and in general Mark Wahlberg's bartender-turned-football player is such a boring ball of nothing about how everyone in life has just their chance waiting for them to grab. It’s something we've seen a hundred times before, and mostly better. Apart from a few fairly interestingly shot scenes, basically an uninteresting football drama.

Ratónpolis (2006)

inglés A surprisingly enjoyable affair that goes back in style to the old grotesques. There are some great movie references, some very funny scenes and cool worms. If it weren't for the unoriginality and a few deaf spots, I'm sure it would have been a star higher.

Pasado de vueltas (2006)

inglés It feels as if the great Will Ferrell from Anchorman has ran out of gas. All the visual jokes are already in the trailers, the one-liners are minimal (especially the good ones) and the well shot racing scenes are not exactly what I wanted to see. Sacha Baron Cohen can't pull off the film and for John C. Reilly, I hope this is the last such flick of his career. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby had all the makings of a comedy hit, unfortunately, this time, the pieces didn't quite fit together.

Feast (2005)

inglés A proper B-movie full of wisecracks, violence and great heroes. Utterly unoriginal, but totally entertaining, unless you mind a broken leg here and there.

cartel

Caos (2005)

inglés An average story, with mediocre execution and amazing cast. But we've seen it all several times before, and usually in much better form. An extra star for Jason Statham, Ryan Phillippe and Wesley Snipes, though.

El farsante (2005)

inglés Unfortunately, not a very good comedy. It's as if the authors were afraid that if they made fun of the disabled, people would stone them. So instead of a cracking comedy, The Ringer is a classic story about a guy who "wakes up and discovers himself." The jokes are few, the good ones even fewer, but Johnny Knoxville and especially Brian Cox are very fine. It's not very funny, though.

Serpientes en el avión (2006)

inglés From beginning to end, a hopeless and exhausted borefest starring Samuel L. Jackson instead of Eric Roberts. By the end I was really suffering, and I like B-movie stuff a lot. If it wasn't for the stupid advertising campaign that wanted to turn this crap into a cult-movie, I'd probably be more moderate, but I won’t

cartel

Renaissance (2006)

inglés Gritty and suspenseful sci-fi with a noir vibe, proving that animated films don't need to have singing animals to be worth something. A thrilling film in which the visuals don't play the most important role, unlike Sin City.

Ant bully, bienvenido al hormiguero (2006)

inglés A totally average animated film in all respects, with neither much humour nor an interesting story. Another variation on the "reformed bastard" theme we've seen a thousand times before. But thanks to the running time, it's quite easy to sit through.

Clerks II (2006)

inglés In the case of Clerks 2, the return to roots is not just an empty concept, because this is not another Mallrats or Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. Maybe that's why I had a problem with the lower cadence of the jokes at the beginning, but once I tuned into the pace of the film, which, like the first, features completely serious dialogue alongside the brilliant jokes, Kevin Smith had me right where he wanted. In short, the return to Jersey was a success. Jay and Bob are at it again, Randall is talking like hell, and Dante has put on some weight. It's funny, it's clever, it's touching and it's exactly what Smith fans have been waiting for. And if this bunch returns in a few years, I'll definitely be there again.
