Sinopsis(1)

Do volcanoes not offer great living conditions? The surface and underground of an extinct volcano near Kenya is home to many types of fauna making Mt. Suswa one of the most remarkable places in the world. This monumental wildlife film uses visually compelling shots to showcase the lives of several species of animals living on steep slopes and in cave systems. The yellow baboon, rock hyrax, african wild dog, bat and african elephant—the rich biodiversity of this unique location in East Africa makes it a wonder of the world that has escaped global recognition. Due to its inaccessibility, the Suswa volcano remains one of the few places without a human presence. (Academia Film Olomouc)

inglés Mt. Suswa – Life in a Volcano is in many ways similar to Oliver Goetzl's film about Bioko Island (it is basically a two-part miniseries about the secrets of Africa), but instead of drills, this time the focus is mainly on baboons and African wild dog species. From an audiovisual point of view, this is a very well made film. I was impressed by the stunning footage of animals and landscapes, as well as the enjoyable and ethnically-themed music. In addition to that, I also learned some interesting and new facts about the life of the depicted animal species - for example, that the bat-eared fox eats mainly termites. ()
