A very average film with an above average cast. Except for the amateur Franco Nero, who was not at all believable. Plus the way he talks. In fact, Nero's character actually narrates the plot of The Salamander, which is why we see a series of book monologues spoken outside the image. But Nero recites these monologues in the style of a fifth-grader reluctantly reading his essay to his classmates. I prefer not to write about the ridiculous torture scene or the bland scenes that should have been action scenes.__P.P.S. Jerry Goldsmith is of course great. ()
