In 2011, young Swiss couple Daniela Widmer and David Och fulfil a long-awaited wish and travel along the ancient Silk Road through Pakistan. The trip suddenly turns into a nightmare, when the two are kidnapped en-route, taken to war-torn Waziristan and handed over to the Taliban. The only civilians so far to escape from the Taliban under their own steam are portrayed in the film by actors Morgane Ferru and Sven Schelker. A powerful story about two young fools, made with a steady hand and without unnecessary drama or brutality. The main protagonists are likable and give high-quality performances during moments of great tension. The movie is quite calm and even monotonous until halfway through, but what worked really well was the very slow rise in tension as the end drew near. Overall, this is not a breakthrough movie, but it leaves you with a chilling feeling.
