Shooting Stars is perfection in many ways. The story, which intertwines tales of western filmmaking, slapstick, and a corrosive marital drama, works brilliantly even with today's hindsight. The fact that the roles played in this film essentially predetermined the careers of their leads also takes on special significance. The very environment of film studios during work is incredibly attractive, and in this rendition an absolute pleasure.
