Sinopsis(1)
We find ourselves in the near future, in an isolated Japan completely covered by radiation. The population is to be evacuated but a South African woman named Tanya lingers on with her android friend, Leona (played by an actual robot, Geminoid F!). Unlike most of the robots seen in action films and space operas, this one is very human. Tanya already seems to have given up any thought of leaving the country – perhaps the radiation has already got to her – and stays on the couch. She orders Leona around, but also has her reciting poems in English, French and Japanese. As Tanya's mother we see Irène Jacob. And in Sayonara we see the future today, and robot actors are part of it. (Göteborg Film Festival)
