Join an international team of scientists and engineers on a unique expedition to Antarctica. Their mission is to reach a lake that lies one kilometer under the ice. But at first, it is not certain that there is a lake at all. There are multiple problems that are to be expected in the harsh Antarctic climate. The adventurous scientific expedition is plagued by vagaries of weather and technical equipment, but also overwhelmed by joy and excitement over interdisciplinary collaboration as well as expected and unexpected discoveries. The audience finds themselves at the center of a fascinating natural and social environment and gets a glimpse into the mysteries of climate change, the fragility of the polar ecosystem, and human relationships within the scientific community. For me, this scientific expedition to Antarctica seemed more like an adventurous expedition into the mysterious depths of space. It was nice to see with what enthusiasm the individual team members took on the difficult tasks. In fact, I was a little envious of their shared joy at having successfully completed the mission.
