Man

He works days as a delivery driver for a grocery store. In the evenings he sketches drawings of UFOs to pass the time or does his laundry. He rides the New York City subways with a tire iron in search of his next victim. He is a man, never identified, with no emotional depth who kills in order to feel alive. And then the man meets a woman, a lonely teacher named Eva, and begins to have feelings for her. Playing on the film noir genre, the story is rendered with exquisitely stylized cinematography, an atmospheric score, very little dialog, and so much intensity it is visceral. Man is a subtle allegory about the isolated, hidden people, mankind’s search for emotion and empathy in an increasingly cold, apathetic world, and perhaps a glimmer of hope that no matter how low we’ve sunk, there is always a chance at redemption.
