The niece (Fumie Kashiyama) of the local Buddhist priest Gozen-sama (Chishu Ryu) shows up at Tora-ya, the family candy shop, claiming Tora-san as her "father." An archeology student, she inspires lovesick Tora-san to study history in this 16th installment. (Shochiku)
