In this, the 26th film in the long-running series, director Yoji Yamada introduces ideas he would later revisit in his acclaimed A Class to Remember. After a friend and business colleague dies, Tora-san visits the man's daughter (Ran Ito) on Okusiri Island in Hokkaido, then takes her to Tokyo to so she can study for a night school exam. (Shochiku)
