For 30 years, Uwe has lived with his wife in the mountains of Miyama north of Kyoto. A German immigrant and shakuhachi player in the village band, he is both a local and outsider. Miyama, Kyoto Prefecture is a thoughtful observational document of everyday life in the village, examining the challenge of being accepted in a community different from your own.
