À la recherche de planète 9

I remember very well from my high school years how we "lost" Pluto as a planet, and even though it didn't excite me then (or now) as much as some of the people who appear at the beginning of this documentary, I didn't want to miss the hunt for a new ninth planet. Personally, I think it's better to say "the hunt" than "the search" because the latter term evokes something realistically attainable, while the former is more suited to something (intangible) that we don't know if it even exists. And that's what this documentary is all about! For fifty minutes, we go with various scientists into a world of simulations, conjectures and hypotheses that should ideally lead to the discovery of that coveted planet – somewhere in a galaxy hundreds of astronomical units away. At times, I had a bit of a problem with the very concept of the search - actually, the hunt – for something that quite possibly doesn't exist. But the film managed to present the subject in a fairly non-violent, engaging and universally understandable way – regardless of whether the you believe it or not. (28.04.2023)
