Myrskyluodon Maija

The film is based on Anni Blomqvist's novel of the same name and takes place in the Åland archipelago in the 19th century. The 17-year-old Maja marries the fisherman Janne against her will. Her life on Stormskjæret is filled with challenges and hardships. As a fisherman's wife, she has to manage on her own to look after the family when her husband is at sea and away for long periods of time. However, Maja becomes a strong-willed and independent woman who is not afraid to take responsibility and manage in the barren archipelago. Strong bonds develop between Maja and Janne, and over time their love for each other deepens. Janne supports his wife's hardships and realizes that the joint efforts and living on equal terms make the family strong. (The Norwegian International Film Festival)
