Sinopsis(1)

Inge Herold is in her mid-thirties, divorced and lives with her 15-year-old son. She is a psychologist and social worker and is involved with a married man. When Inge Herold learns that she possibly has breast cancer and has to got to hospital to undergo an operation the very next day, she is not only alarmed; she also starts to reflect upon her life. Tensely awake and sensitized for matters of everyday life, she recognizes that she previously considered to be meaningful, is ultimately void of any sense. Her relationship with the married man is particularly on her mind. Constantly she reminds him of her need for independence. Now, however, she recognizes that this need is based on her inability to fully commit herself. By questioning much of what has been important to her up to now, Inge Herold achieves a high level of sincerity towards herself. Moreover, her son is very sympathetic in this situation. Although the anxiety remains, Inge Herold finds the strength to face illness with a strong will to live and to make some consistent decisions for her life. (Progress Film-Verleih)
