Deloris Van Cartier (Whoopi Goldberg) es una mediocre cantante de cabaret. Su amante Vince ha cometido un crimen, y ella decide acogerse al programa policial de protección de testigos. Whoopi Goldberg is really great here, and thanks to her and a few other actresses, the first half of the film is not as boring as the screenwriter wrote it. The second half, however, once the singing starts, makes an average comedy above average. The songs have zest and Maggie Smith's stony expression is priceless.
