Ošidori utagassen

Oharu (Haruyo Ichikawa) is the daughter of a poor umbrella merchant. She is in love with Reisaburo (Chiezo Kataoka), a handsome young ronin who lived next door, but she is not the only one who is vying for him. Whilst caught in the middle of a love rivalry, her father keeps busy; collecting expensive antiques and spending most of the little earnings that he has. Unfortunately, as much an avid collector that he is, he lacks the eye for art. When he is conned into buying a fake piece, he becomes pennyless and is confronted by a heartless debt collector who wants his most prized possession in return: his daughter, Oharu. (Nikkatsu)
