TV crime movie starring David Birney as undercover cop Serpico. Clean-cut David Birney was hardly ideal casting for the tough real-life New York undercover cop created by Al Pacino in the preceding cinema film. Small wonder, then, that the TV series for which this is the pilot lasted only a season. Some good action scenes and catchy music by Elmer Bernstein still can't lift this one above the average.
