Sinopsis(1)
Un refinado aristócrata londinense, Tony Mountset, contrata a Hugo Barret, un perspicaz mayordomo con una facilidad innata para seducir, para hacerse cargo de su recién adquirida mansión. Barret demuestra una eficacia asombrosa con la organización del trabajo, y él y Tony mantienen una buena relación. Sin embargo, el vínculo comienza a cambiar con la aparición de Susan, la novia de Tony, que sospecha de Barret y aborrece todo que él implica. Barret presenta a Tony a Vera, su hermana, para ocupar el trabajo de criada en la casa. La verdad es que Vera es la amante de Barret y ambos comienzan un juego perverso de maquinaciones, que poco a poco van transformando sus papeles de una manera tan sutil como efectiva, hasta reemplazar de hecho los de Tony y Susan. An interesting movie that does not unfold as you might think. At first, it seems like it might be a comedy about how a servant helps his master, but it quickly turns into a thriller where you don't know what to expect from the servant. But even this is not something that the film truly offers, because it is much more existential. It has the potential for you to discover something new in it after each viewing.

The Servant represents honest work in the field of psychological drama, excellent acting, and very well-shot scenes, but the whole does not work as one would expect. Simply put, the script contains flaws and the characters undergo strange psychological twists and turns, and their development is equally strange and wild. It gets a 3.5-star rating and this time I lean toward the lower end of it. Overall impression: 65%.
