La niña

It’s not the strongest of dramas, but who has ever said that one person’s story had to be so emotionally exhausting that I need to jump out of my skin after listening to it. Ashley leads a difficult life, which is mostly her own doing. Suddenly, she gets a one-in-a-million opportunity that could solve some of her personal problems. At this point, her character goes through a beautiful transformation; the more she changes the more I liked the movie. The ending was fairly subtle, but also very pleasant. I was deciding between three and four stars, but since the story of this movie is told by life itself, I leaned towards the four. (08.07.2014)

"The Girl" is definitely not a completely unnecessary film, moreover, it puts parenthood into an interesting confrontation. The woman has money problems and she can't think of anything better than getting involved in human trafficking - Mexican immigrants. She decides to help them cross the border, and she's somehow successful at it. However, a problem arises. There's a little girl without a mother, whom the main protagonist takes care of. Thanks to the little girl, the woman realizes how she failed as a mother. It is a dramatic story about opening one's eyes, not bad, but it definitely doesn't excel in terms of its plot.
