Sinopsis(1)
Vicky Barton (Jean Simmons) visita París con motivo de la Exposición Universal de 1889 acompañada de su hermano Johnny (David Tomlinson). Tras instalarse en su lujoso hotel visitarán el famoso Moulin Rouge, donde Johnny empieza a encontrarse mal. Tras la velada, cada uno de los dos hermanos va a dormir a su respectiva habitación. Por la mañana, Johnny ha desaparecido y nadie en el hotel recuerda que Vicky fuera acompañada. Además, la habitación que ocupó su hermano parece no haber existido nunca. Nerviosa y sin comprender nada, Vicky tratará de averiguar qué está ocurriendo. Pero nadie creerá en la existencia de su hermano, excepto un apuesto joven llamado George Hathaway (Dirk Bogarde) a quien parece ser que Johnny le había prestado cincuenta francos la noche del Extraño Suceso… (Filmin)
