Miguel es un pescador joven y querido de Cabo Blanco, un pequeño pueblo de pescadores de la costa norte de Perú, donde existen tradiciones muy arraigadas con respecto a la muerte. Miguel está casado con Mariela, embarazada de siete meses del primer hijo de ambos, pero tiene un romance extremadamente secreto con otro hombre, Santiago, un pintor que se mudó al pueblo hace un año y que es rechazado por los pueblerinos por ser agnóstico y abierto acerca de su sexualidad. Undertow impresses with a quite unconventional love triangle, oscillating between a romantic drama and a ghost story. On the one hand, there is a traditional society with a pregnant wife, on the other a passionate affair with a free-thinking artist, and in between everything, the main character Miguel needs to get his head right. I admit that the storyline with the "invisible" Santiago had its limitations, but this was made up for by a realistically portrayed story with more than one strong scene. A weaker four stars!
