After his Vegas crime family don father dies, Frank Regalbuto (Robert Forster) now places his loyalties with Don Angelo DiMorra (Anthony Quinn), but a rival family wants to trigger a gang war and destroy the DiMorra clan. They make Frank think that his girlfriend Ruby (Angel Tompkins) is locked in an affair with Don Angelo, hoping Frank will take revenge. Enlisting the Fargo brothers hit men, Tony (Frederic Forrest) and Vince (Al Lettieri) - who have some nasty sibling rivalry issues of their own - Frank is determined to rise to the top and wreak vengeance, no matter the body count that results. inglés An obvious answer to year-older The Godfather, especially at the end, when the mobsters shoot each other (an excellent scene, the highlight of the film), cut each other’s throats in barber's chairs and load bodies into barrels and otherwise disposed of them in a successful manner. That's also when The Don Is Dead finally picks up the pace. Until then, it is a very, very, very slow film, in which something happens, but it cannot be said that the "something" is worth anything. Anthony Quinn, however, does not disappoint, nor does Jerry Goldsmith's music. ()
