Umay flees an abusive marriage in Istanbul and joins her family in Berlin. But her parents are unsympathetic - social stigma causes them to side with their conservative neighbors and cast out their daughter for refusing to go back to her husband. When they try to send her son back to Turkey without her, Umay is forced to move to a women`s shelter. It is very interesting to see how important the concept of a family is for the Muslims. This concept goes beyond the line and thus creates stories that are very horrible and sad, as this film was trying to tell. The whole time I wished for a better life for Umay. And the whole time I felt it was getting worse and worse. The finale knocked me down completely. I cannot describe it, you have to live through the two hours. It is apparent that a Muslim family is so irrational and complicated process, that I was glad I am not a part of it.

Hace mucho tiempo que ninguna película me ha hecho llorar tanto. Magníficamente dirigida, magníficamente interpretada. Durante dos horas tuve una sensación de opresión y una inquietante sospecha de lo que aún le espera a Umay y cómo tendrá que sufrir debido a su deseo de hacer una elección libre. Sibel Kekilli se está volviendo cada vez más guapa y cada vez más convincente en su interpretación. En este papel pudo entregarse al cien por cien, ya que también vivió sus propias experiencias con su familia y pudo reflejar plenamente sus experiencias negativas en Umay. Espero que nadie en Alemania mencione su pasado pornográfico, que además supuestamente fue también una rebelión contra una familia terca. Sibel es simplemente una señora actriz y estoy especialmente emocionado por sus próximas películas. Pero tal vez también necesite alguna comedia.
