It is a sad story and beautiful in its finale, but its conception is so ordinary. Yes, this is human life and it can unfold like this, but without Al Pacino, who once again excels and doesn't show off his greatness, it would be easily forgettable film that you would simply overlook and not remember in the morning. But for the acting, I give a lot. ()
If you're not a fan of indie, the odyssey of Manglehorn will not be for you. A gloomy Al Pacino simply walks and stumbles through the whole movie, with the exception of occasional fits of anger, he goes on in his slow-paced minimalist style. And the longer he wallows in it, the more the film suits me, but it is not enough for more than a pleasant and unusual spectacle. It trivializes some problems too much and inflates a few little things disproportionately. Which is a shame in sensitive topic of loneliness in old age, when partners are gone, children are too grown up, and grandchildren are too far away. ()
