Parón en el Camino es una historia sobre lo extremo, que nace de lo cotidiano. Una historia que celebra la vida en medio de la muerte. Frank y Simone viven con sus dos hijos en una casa en las afueras de la ciudad. Son una pareja feliz hasta el día en que a Frank le diagnostican un tumor cerebral inoperable. De pronto, la familia debe enfrentarse con la muerte. Andreas Dresen dirige la atención hacia donde otros no miran, se escapan en metáforas o se aferran a eufemismos. Mientras acompañamos a Frank, cuya vida se torna cada vez más lenta y sus razonamientos se van reduciendo a nada, Dresen le quita a la muerte gran parte de su horror. A devastating film about death and dying, overwhelming not because it is dark, hopeless, offensive, but because it is full of subtle humor, naturalness, and moderation. Andreas Dresen is undoubtedly a genius, as his latest film was made using the controlled improvisation method and is more authentic and intimate than any documentary about dying. From my point of view, this is probably the most impressive film about the last human things I've ever seen. A sensitively filmed catharsis that brings back to the eyes what today's surface-obsessed consumer society so desperately avoids. A kind film that shies away from nothing about the end, which, in my eyes, this year nothing can overcome.

The film is very good, the way it's shot makes it all more believable, but I still couldn't bring myself to like it. Of course, the theme isn't about being likable; it's about its weight, but it was precisely that form that prevented me from identifying with the characters. Maybe because of how realistic it is.
