inglés Russian literature of the 19th century worked with the term "superfluous people." True, it meant something different than the character played by Eduard Cupák, but it was precisely this designation that came to my mind in connection with the sad protagonist of the story. Guy de Maupassant was the author of many ironically bitter stories, but in this one, you won't find a trace of irony, only bitterness. Jindřich is an irreparable naive who doesn't admit the dangerous signals that others see everywhere, and when he finally sees them thanks to someone else's help after years, he doesn't learn from it and withdraws into himself, drowning himself in alcohol. His so-called revenge is as helpless as everything he has done so far. Fear of losing face and public scandal allows him nothing more than to play the role of a sad clown until the end. The trio of leading Czech actors Cupák, Fialová, and Kostka prove their undeniable qualities. 3 stars and a 60% overall impression are just right. ()
